Henry ...Goode was a shortened version of Goodwife. Henry was called Goodman Gregory and his wife Goode Gregory in court records. Goode is a form of address, like Mrs, but connoting a higher class, just below gentry. I have a 1632 record with her name as Margaret. Where did you get Mary? My father's family told stories ...Interesting. My father's family told stories about this Henry Gregory and how he was the 2nd son and so paid his way to come to America by becoming an Indentured Servant in about 1636. They also told how he walked from I think Monroe County NY to CT on foot, about 100 miles. Years ago my great, great grandmother lived next door to Gen Tom Thumb's in Stratford (I think) CT and was friends with his mother.
