Abstract of the Will of Nicholas Bushnell
10 April 1591, Thatcham, Berks County, England

Nicholas Bushnell, Yeoman, of Thatcham, County Berks, died 1593, wife Elizabeth. By his will date 10 April 1591, Proved 19 January 1593/94, recorded Archdeaconry Berks I 138, he gave to the poor of Tahtcham 10s; to his eldest son Francis, his messuages and lands in Thatcham and Henwick, called Auberies, and in Midgham and 3 areas in North Field near Thatcham, including the piddles (Pightals) thereunto belonging, to him and the male heirs of his body, with contingent remainders to his sons Roger and Richard, entail male, and to the said Roger and Richard 20s each a year. To Joan Bushnell, daughter of Francis Bushnell a bullock and a cow, his overseers to have charge of the same until her age of 21; he forgave his son-in-law Stephen Goddard 9 pounds which he owed to him. Residual legacies and Executrix his wife, Elizabeth and his son William Bushnell.

Overseers: John Blackney the elder of Thatcham, shoemaker and John Stricks, alias Foster, of the same, wheelwright.
