[Ancestral Link: Marguerite Anderson (Miller), daughter of Hannah Anderson (Anderson), daughter of Mary Margaret Edmiston (Anderson), daughter of Martha Jane Snow (Edmiston), daughter of Gardner Snow, son of Abigail Farr (Snow), daughter of Jonathan Farr, son of Thomas Farr, son of Mary Taylor (Farr), daughter of William Taylor.]

Background of William TaylorWilliam came to America from London, England, on the ship Truelove in 1635. According to the ship's manifest, there were four Taylors on this voyage: Richard, age 16; William, age 17; Anna, age 24; and James, age 28.

William settled in Concord, Massachusetts. His name first appears in the town records as early as 1650, where he had a house lot near what is now known as Merriam's Corner on Lexington Road (then called Bay Road).

William and his wife Mary (Merriam) Taylor had seven children, all born in Concord, Massachusetts:
Mary, born 19 February 1649.
John, born 19 October 1653.
Samuel, born 3 July 1655; died in a few days.
Abraham, born 14 November 1656; married Mary Whittaker.
Isaac, born in 1659.
Jacob, born 8 May 1662.
Joseph, born in 1665.

  1. You stated that "William and his wife Mary (Merriam) Taylor had seven children, all born in Concord, Massachusetts:" The is probable, but it is SUSPECT that Mary was a MERRIAM. In the book, Merriam Genealogy in England and America, there is no MARY as a daughter of Joseph Merriam and Sarah Goldstone (page 36). Furthermore, William Taylor married HANNAH, the daughter of George MERRIAM and Susanna RAVEN. Page 38 in the Pope book (available now through Google Books). I also have run across several places where the first wife of William TAYLOR is given as Mary JOHNSON. If you run across any more evidence in this matter, I would appreciate your contacting me. 2. I'm currently researching William and Mary and came across this posting. The source for Mary Merriam is Torrey's New England Marriages although in looking at his book I see Torrey does question his own notation and appears to disprove it. Per Torrey: TAYLOR, William (-1696) & Mary [MERRIAM? (no)] (-1699); b 1650; Concord

  3. William married Mary Merriam, had several children and she died. He then married her cousin, Hannah, and they had the remaining children together.
