MARGERY WILLARD (DAVIS) 1602-1658

[Ancestral Link: Marguerite Anderson (Miller), daughter of Hannah Anderson (Anderson), daughter of Mary Margaret Edmiston (Anderson), daughter of Martha Jane Snow (Edmiston), daughter of Sarah Sawyer Hastings (Snow), daughter of Jonathan Hastings, son of Mary Hartwell (Hastings), daughter of Sarah Wheeler (Hartwell), daughter of Sarah Davis (Wheeler), daughter of Margery Willard (Davis).]

Margery WILLARD
Margery WILLARD was born on 6 Nov 1602 in Horsmonden, Brenchley, Kent. She died between 1655 and
1666 in Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Margery's family originally arrived in 1634 from Kent,
England, and they were among the founders of Concord, Massachusetts and famous for their clock making. The
family farm, in Grafton is now operated as the Willard House and Clock Museum; it had been built in 1718,
by the Willards' third American generation.

Dolor Davis married, probably about 1624, Mar- gery Willard, daughter of Richard Willard, of Horse- monden, Kent. The original record of her christ- ening may be seen 'to-day on the parish register of Horsemonden, dated November 7, 1602, she being then probably only a few weeks old. Much interest- ing information about her father's flimily may be found in the Willard Memoir, from which I have taken a few facts of especial value to us, as giving some idea of Davis's connections in England. Richard Willard — " Yeoman," as he styles himself in his will, that is, owner of the lands he farmed — was thrice married, and had children by each wife.

Dolar davis and Margery Willard
According to the "Davis- Copeland Families with collateral families" compiled for Oscar C. Davis by HNP Hubbard 1911, a handwritten copy of which is in my posession, Dolar and Margeryarrived in New England in 1635 in the ship Elizabeth. They lived in Concord, Scituate, Duxbury, Barnstable and Groton... (all Massachusetts) Hubbard writes that Margery died in Concord, after which he removed to Barnstable where he married the widow of Capt. Thomas Bursley (nee Joanna Hull). Hubbard also write that "June 1673 his long and restless life came to an end".
